A dynamic QR code includes a built-in landing page that you can edit anytime. Build a custom page with your content, contact details, links, and more—no external website needed.
What you can build
Dynamic QR codes include a landing page builder. You can add:
- Text, headings, and images
- Links and call-to-action buttons
- Contact details and social profiles
- Photo galleries and videos
- Menus, product lists, and services
- Forms for collecting responses
- Downloadable files
- Embed code for custom HTML
Each element is a "component" that you add to your page. Arrange them in any order you want.
Before you start
- You need a FreeQR account (free accounts work)
Step 1: Start creating
Go to your Dashboard and click Create QR Code. You will see two options:
- Dynamic QR Code - Includes the landing page builder, editable anytime
- Static QR Code - For fixed URLs only, cannot be edited
Select Dynamic QR Code.
Step 2: Choose a template
A grid of templates appears. Each template sets up your landing page with pre-filled components for a specific use case.
| Template | What it sets up |
|---|---|
| Link to a website | A simple redirect to one URL (no landing page editor) |
| VCard Plus | Contact details (name, phone, email, address) |
| File Sharing | Downloadable files |
| Social Media | Social media profile links |
| Images | An image gallery |
| Videos | Embedded video players |
| Audio | Embedded audio players |
| Products & Services | An item list for products or services |
| Business | A full business page (contact details, links, social profiles, and more) |
| Event | An event promotion page (details, schedule, links) |
| Coupon | A discount or promotion page |
| Feedback | A form to collect responses |
Select the template that matches what you want to build. The editor opens with the relevant components already added to your page.
Not sure which to pick? Choose any template. You can add, remove, and rearrange components freely after creation (except the Link to a website template, which does not include the landing page editor).
Step 3: Fill in QR code details
A form appears with the following fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| QR Code name | A name for your reference (only you see this) |
| URL | Your landing page address (cannot be changed after creation) |
| Page protection | Optional password to protect your content |
Enter a name for your QR code. The URL is auto-generated, or you can enter a custom name if you prefer (must be unique and not already taken). Enable page protection if you want visitors to enter a password before viewing.
Click Create QR Code to continue.
Step 4: Open the landing page editor
After creating your QR code, the editor opens. You will see two areas:
- Left panel: Where you add and configure components
- Right panel: A live preview of your page
If you chose a template, some components are already added to your page. You can configure them, add more, or remove any you do not need.
Step 5: Add or configure components
If your template pre-filled components, click on any component to edit its settings. If you want to add more, click Add component at the bottom of the editor panel.
Available component types:
| Component | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Content | Text, headings, images, lists |
| Image Gallery | Multiple photos in grid, brick, or carousel layout |
| Contact Details | Name, phone, email, address |
| Social Profiles | Links to your social media accounts |
| Videos | Embedded YouTube or Vimeo videos |
| Audio | Embedded SoundCloud or Spotify tracks |
| Links | Clickable buttons and text links |
| Item List | Products, menu items, or services |
| Form | Input fields to collect responses |
| Files | Downloadable documents |
| Embed | Custom HTML code |
Each component has its own settings. Fill in the fields, upload images, or enter your information. The preview updates as you make changes.
Most components have these common settings:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | Optional heading displayed above the component |
| Description | Optional text below the title |
| Show header | Toggle to show or hide the title |
| Status | Set the component to Active or Inactive |
For detailed instructions on each component, see Landing page components: Complete guide.
Step 6: Reorder or remove components
To reorder components, use the drag handle on the left side of each component, or click the up/down arrows. To remove a component, click the trash icon.
Step 7: Save your page
Click Save to save your changes. Your landing page is now live. Anyone who scans your QR code will see this page.
What happens next
Your landing page is connected to your QR code. When someone scans the code, they see your page.
You can edit your page anytime. Changes go live immediately after you save. You do not need to create a new QR code or reprint anything.
Tips for a good landing page
- Start with your most important content at the top
- Keep text short and scannable
- Use high-quality images
- Test your page on a phone before sharing the QR code
