The Link to a Website template creates a QR code that sends visitors directly to a URL. It is the simplest way to connect a printed QR code to any web page.
What this template does
When someone scans your QR code, they go straight to the URL you entered. There is no landing page, no editor, and no extra steps for the visitor.
Use this when you want to:
- Send people to your website, online store, or booking page
- Link to a specific product page or article
- Redirect to a Google Maps location, social profile, or any URL
- Keep the experience as simple as possible
How to create
Step 1: Start creating
Go to your Dashboard and click Create QR Code. Select Dynamic QR Code.
Step 2: Choose the template
You will see a grid of template options. Select Link to a website.
Step 3: Fill in QR code details and create
Enter a name for your QR code and click Create QR Code.
Step 4: Enter your URL
The editor opens on the Link tab. You will see:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| URL | Paste the web address visitors go to when they scan |
| Auto redirect | When on, visitors are sent to the URL automatically |
| Auto redirect delay | How many seconds before the redirect happens (default: 3 seconds) |
Paste your destination URL in the URL field. Turn on Auto redirect if you want visitors to be forwarded automatically without clicking anything.
Click Save when you are done.
How this template is different
The Link to a Website template works differently from all other templates:
| Feature | Link to a Website | Other templates |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page editor | No | Yes |
| Add components (text, images, forms) | No | Yes |
| Visitor experience | Goes directly to your URL | Sees a landing page |
| What you can change later | The destination URL | Full page content |
This template is intentionally simple. It does one thing: send people to a URL.
Changing your URL later
You can update the destination URL anytime without reprinting your QR code.
- Go to your Dashboard
- Click on the QR code
- Open the Link tab
- Change the URL field
- Click Save
The change takes effect immediately.
When to use a different template
If you need any of the following, choose a different template instead:
- Multiple links or buttons - Use the Business or Event template
- Contact information - Use the VCard Plus template
- Images, videos, or files - Use the corresponding template
- A full landing page - Use any template other than Link to a Website
You can see all available templates in the template selection screen when creating a new QR code.
Common questions
Can I switch to a landing page later?
Yes. Go to your QR code settings and change the type. Your QR code stays the same.
Why can I not see the landing page editor?
The Link to a Website template does not include a landing page editor. If you need to build a page with text, images, or other content, create a new QR code with a different template.
Is this the same as a static QR code?
No. A static QR code bakes the URL into the code pattern and cannot be changed. The Link to a Website template creates a dynamic QR code, so you can update the URL anytime without reprinting.
